UCLA Live Presents

This Filthy World Goes Hollywood (feat. John Waters)
UCLA Royce Hall – Los Angeles, CA
2/23/11

Baltimore native John Waters has toured film festivals, comedy clubs and college campuses across the country with brilliant and world-wise reflections on his film career, lifelong obsessions and professional relationships–the sum of which was documented in the 2006 film The Filthy World.

In that film, one sees a filmmaker looking back on a singular body of work that has shocked, repulsed and delighted moviegoers since his earliest attempts at recreating the exploitation films of his youth. With a charming persona and gift of gab, Waters returns with yet another lecture show, one that’s specially suited for the concurrent Oscar celebrations of one week in February.

This Filthy World Goes Hollywood is a one-man vaudeville performance which features Waters narrating the lures and snares of show business and the art world. Filmmaker and sketch artist Matthew Gray Gubler will serve as emcee while rock musician Elvis Perkins will perform on stage as the opening act.

The show takes place on Feb. 23 at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Tickets cost $28-48 ($15 for UCLA students). For more info, visit http://www.uclalive.org/
