This Friday marks the third Installment of The Revival Sessions–a new monthly series from Hosts & Deejays Jeremy Sole (KCRW) and Jamie Strong (Stones Throw.) Also Chris Zeigler of L.A. Records will be spinning some grooves tomorrow night. Over the years, the Townhouse (a 1920′s speakeasy) held clandestine performances from the likes of Charlie Chaplin, The Doors & Janes Addiction. Jamie and Jeremy intend to carry on this historic legacy by showcasing the next big artists, all in the same intimate setting. This is your chance to see and hear them first. Throughout the night, the DJ’s will be spinning Dirty Jazz, Juke Boogie, Psychedelic Soul & Gutbucket R&B. →

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner, so Cinespia decided to give cinephiles a double dose of wonderful films to kick off the unofficial start of summer. For Cinespia’s 10th season, they will feature Alfred Hitchcock’s vibrant masterpiece, Vertigo (1958), screening Saturday, May 28; and Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (1974), screening Sunday, May 29. →
Put the Rifle Down is a Toronto beepy boppy new wave band. Their live shows are high energy and filled with sweaty, head-tossing fans–extraordinary in a city of residents who usually stand with arms folded at shows. Now Magazine describes them as ”New Order meets Minor Threat,” and after experiencing their live show, the title seems apt.
