Emily Ansara Baines is a native of Los Angeles, California—a fact of life she often finds contradictory to her creative writing goals. When not anxiously writing, Emily spends her time reading literature, researching up-and-coming indie music bands, taking pictures with her old-school Polaroid camera, and contemplating moving to Paris. In a past life she was a cat. After spending a year studying theatre school in the Midwest, Emily attended the University of Southern California. Now a graduate of both the film school and creative writing department at USC, Emily also possesses a fascination for the moving image. She hopes to use her love of music, chiaroscuro, and good writing to either one day make a film she is proud of, or at the very least a film that gives her enough clout to not seem pretentious when mocking particular movies. Emily collects vintage hats, fortune cookie fortunes, dead baby jokes, and has vague feelings of guilt involving her mother. Emily’s role models are J.D. Salinger, Aimee Bender, and Audrey Hepburn. Her favorite word is murmur.
