Tomorrow, Friday, October 10th, Nike is celebrating the Los Angeles opening of House of Hoops by Foot Locker, a hub for all things basketball and a home for consumers who live and breathe the game. The space, located at the Beverly Center Mall, will feature a hardwood basketball half-court as well as two big screen TV’s for consumers to check out commercials from the Nike, Jordan and Converse brands as well as behind-the scenes-interviews with top players. The basketball haven also gives hoops fanatics access to player exclusive footwear – the personalized performance shoes of Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol, as well as limited edition styles.

The store’s launch products include the Kobe Rice Hyperdunk, to be released on Friday, October 10th, and the Tony Parker Hyperdunk, complete with EA Sports NBA Live 09 in either Xbox or PS3 format, to be released on Saturday, October 11th. Images of both shoes, as well as images of the space, are attached. Friday’s launch event is open to the public and will take place from 5:30 - 8:30PM and will feature special athlete and celebrity appearances as well as a performance by hip-hop artist Ice Cube.

CAID Productions, the guys who brought you the sneaker documentary, Just for Kicks is launching a new instructional documentary that examines the science and history of b-boy dancing and culture called The Way of the B-Boy. A full-length documentary and instructional video that offers an in-depth look at the role of breaking and b-boy culture, featuring interviews with hip hop legends: Grandmaster Caz, Ralph McDaniels, and Lil’ Dep, and a step-by-step tutorial by Seattle’s Massive Monkees.

We are having the premiere on October 20th (more details to come. The film will be released exclusively online on October 21st–where people can buy either the DVD, full download or individual chapter downloads.

Seymour Chwast For Freshjive

Mr. Chwast first gained notoriety in the 1950s with a playful expressive approach to type and layout based on revivalism which was a radical alternative to the Swiss formalism at the time. Chwast is noted for his strength in concept and design. A sense of humor underpins his illustration along with a keen understanding of traditional design. Chwast along with his colleagues in the Pushpin Studio (which they founded in 1954) reintroduced the long divorced principles of illustration and design. Moreover, he helped formulate a new graphic lexicon based on knowledge, appreciation, and reapplication of past styles and forms. His work has been published in countless design books and publications. Chwast, along the many years of design, has also been committed to social and political issues. The combination of an expression of these issues along with a graphic wit, seemed all too obvious to have him contribute to the Freshjive running t shirt theme of “World Problems”.

As well as this initial design, look out for a group of limited edition designs that Chwast will be releasing in the Freshjive line in 2009. We’ll keep you posted.

6) In 2003, McCain joined Bush to promote privatizing Social Security.

7) McCain has embraced the endorsements of Bush and the leaders of the Christian Right.

McCain plans to make the Bush tax cuts permanent.

9) McCain and Bush are both proponents of market deregulation, which has now led to the current financial crisis.

10) Speaking of Bush in 2006: “We have a very good personal relationship, but it’s primarily based on the agenda.”

11) They are both liars.

This track entitled “Wish Well” and artwork was donated by Adam R. Garcia, an art director, graphic designer and illustrator currently living, working and learning in Philadelphia. He does brand-based print and web projects in music and lifestyle. Since October 2007, he’s been a senior designer at 160over90, a branding agency.

Grand Gallery proudly presents the Bicycle Film Festival that features the artwork of Stash and Futura 2000 on the Colnago frames. The two artists joined forces with La Carrera Cycles to work visually on the legendary bicycle steel track frame “Master Pista” produced by Ernesto Colnago and reintroduced in 2008.

The opening begins 10th October 2008 7pm at Grand Gallery (Traugottstrasse 9, near Escher-Wyssplatz, Zurich). Beside, extremely limited bicycle bags, t-shirts, caps, socks and other stuff designed by the two artists will be available for the public. There will be music with DJ Condor, food and drinks.
