Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “I Can’t Help It” performed by Grover Washington, Jr. He covered the Stevie Wonder & Susaye Greene (The Supremes) written track. It’s highly recognized however by Michael Jackson’s version of the song off of the 1979 Off the Wall album and on De La Soul’s “Breakadawn.” →

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “4 more ft Zhane” by De La Soul. I missed posting the past two weeks. I want to blame it on the alcohol, so I will. Times were getting tough, and when the going gets tough, I curl up in a ball in the corner of a very dark room and rock back & forth for a little bit. But then after that, I’m a-ok! →

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “Simply So ft. Steve Spacek (SA-RA Remix)” by GB. I’ve been listening to SA-RA a lot lately since I hear they’ve got a new album coming out June 24. And as much as I don’t want to take credit away from such a great artist as GB, the SA-RA electric soul formula of bouncy bass loops and smooth horns sound on this 12″ is nicety. Enjoy.

The Low End Theory podcast from THE MOTHER.FUCKING GASLAMP KILLER and Ras_G is insane. Truly in a good way. Is that my phone I hear in the background? I wish I could find all the words to describe this. I’m thinking of dancing ghosts. →

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “My My, Hey Hey (Cousin Cole’s Into The Blue Remix).” The remix is off of the Flagrant Fowl Tambourine Dream EP and it’s based off of the “My My, Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)” song on the Neil Young & Crazy Horse Rust Never Sleeps album. You can still hear some remains of the audience in the background. Awesome. →

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione. This was my mom’s favorite song when I was little. Today, she ditched me and is with some friends in Vegas. Unbelievable! Oh well, no harm done. Happy Mother’s Day!

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and I post it up here. I’m late with this post, so there’ll be another post later this week as well. My bad. So anyway, this week’s song is “Rock Creek Park” by The Blackbyrds.
I used to hear this song every week at The Root Down when it was at Gabah on Melrose. →

In general, I like to listen more than talk (in this case, write). I think I’m in trouble. But I’m going to write about this because I think it’s really dope. There’s a lot of other really good music and things I haven’t gotten around to writing about too, but it’s hard. I have to give it up to people out there who can keep up with it all. How do you do it?

I’ve got a gig tonight at my favorite spot in the OC, so this post is my shameless plug. You can expect DJ sets from Nosaj Thing, Free The Robots, and me, along with mouth watering eats from head chef Aron Habiger, and delicious Sangrias. →
It took me a little time to get into Mayer Hawthorne. I think I’m the only one. Call me racist, but honestly, it’s just hard for me to immediately like a white artist singing soul music. I can’t talk though. If I lived strictly by those kinds of rules, I don’t know what kind of musical genre I’d have to stick myself into →
