Z-trip x Obey For Obama

A message from DJ Z-trip:  I encourage you to download [my Obama mix at: http://www.djztrip.com/obama/] and pass it along to anyone you think should hear it. Feel free to burn copies, share it with friends, family, co-workers, strangers, and especially anyone you know is on the fence about this election. I’m also putting out a radio friendly version, in case anyone wants to broadcast it.

“Please share the message. Educate those who may not know what is really going on. There is still time.

If you, or anyone you know, isn’t registered to vote, I encourage you to make it a priority and fix that before it’s too late. This election is WAY too important for anyone to not get involved. If you need more information on how and where to register, vote, or participate, please check the links below.

I honestly feel if we make our voices heard, this time WILL be different.

Peace,

Z-TRIP

Blackbird x Unholy Matrimony

‘Seasons of Non’: A Blackbird Shop-in-Shop by Brett Westfall

Blackbird Shop - Seattle, WA
10/25/08

This October will bring the union of Blackbird and Unholy Matrimony in the form of a shop-in-shop, a conceptual installation. Brett Westfall, Comme des Garcons collaborator and L.A based artist/designer, will construct a free form installation within Blackbird where his Unholy Matrimony collection will be sold through February 2009. The collection is entitled ‘Seasons of Non’ and is based on Brett’s concept of ‘questioning the real in reality’. What this means, we hope to discover on Oct 25th, when the shop opens and our friends gather to celebrate and take in the happenings.  Beer and wine will be served from 7:00-9:00pm.

Opening party: October 25, 2008
Installation runs from October 25th thru Feb 28th

LOCATION:
Blackbird
5410 22nd Ave NW
Seattle, WA 98107

About Unholy Matrimony:
Unholy Matrimony was conceived in 2002 by artist Brett Westfall and launched in 2003 with the idea of combining conceptual art and fashion design.  He recently collaborated with Comme des Garcons’s Rei Kawakubo on the new CDG Homme Plus line, which debuted as part of the Comme des Garcons Spring 09 runway collection during Paris fashion week.  Brett is also co-owner of the CDG +1 213 Guerilla Store, the first American Comme des Garcons store, located in Los Angeles.

Secret Machines Remix Contest

SOCIAL MACHINES: The Secret Machines’ GarageBand Remix

The Contest runs from October 14th thru November 2nd!

Share in the creative process!  Remix “Atomic Heels,” the first single from the Secret Machines’ upcoming full-length eponymous album, through an exclusive contest on the band’s new social network, www.thesecretmachines.com.  BrandonAppleLoops “ATOMIC PURGATORY!” exclaims Brandon Curtis, the vocalist/ keyboardist/bass player and principal songwriter behind the Secret Machines. The psychedelic New York trio’s founding member has just come out of self-imposed exile after being isolated in a 6 x 6-foot room at Electric Lady Studios for the last 10 days, while he used Apple Loops to tackle the preparation of stems for the upcoming “Atomic Heels” Remix Contest for GarageBand.

This is the first time the Secret Machines have made their music available as raw files, meaning that what was once a heavily guarded secret of sonic alchemy is now essentially up for grabs and encouraged freely for the world to mangle. “To be honest, at first I didn’t really grasp why we would want to do this, Secret Machines weren’t initially on the bandwagon of high-profile remix enthusiasts,” admits Curtis. “For us right now the most important priority is connecting with our fans. To celebrate the release of our first single, “Atomic Heels,” we decided that there was no better gift than to let them explore and experiment with our music - have them feel the same excitement we first felt when we laid down the tracks for this song at New York’s Magic Shop Studios. So yes, it’s about technology, but it’s also about embracing how this technology impacts us artistically, by allowing us to make our music available for the first time in an interactive way. As the traditional label industry keeps changing, and the sale of recorded music keeps dwindling, we’re thrilled to be among a growing number of artists that now provide our fans with a dynamic digital means to distribute our music, for free, among themselves. We can’t wait to hear what they come up with.”

The remix contest runs from October 14 through November 2, when the Secret Machines will be announcing the winner online, the day before their performance at The Independent in San Francisco. Contest prizes include a pre-loaded Nano Chromatic featuring the new album and video, as well as a limited edition EP issued on TSM Recordings, which will include the winning remix and other exclusive tracks.

Cornelius: “Fit Song”

After grabbing my first copy of Cornelius’ Fantasma in ‘97, I was enthralled with the Japanese artist who sported a Beatles hair-do and had a penchant for Planet of the Apes.  After enjoying widespread success at home and abroad, Cornelius took his time in producing his recent full-length, Sensuous (on Everloving), an undeniably beautiful and restrained indietronic opus.  The video of his track, “Fit Song” comes from the collaborative effort dubbed, Sensurround.  A visual component to his latest album that includes: Tsujikawa Kochiro, (Art/design collective Groovisions) and Takagi Masakatsu.  Together they produced a vibrant and sleek visual DVD accompaniment to the album that is available at the Everloving Store.
